Applying for exemption from income tax
You can apply for an income tax exemption if you are paid pension or benefits that allow the deduction of income tax. The following persons are eligible for exemption from income tax:
- state pensioners
- beneficiaries of parental benefit
- beneficiaries of compensation of damages caused by an occupational accident or an occupational disease.
Only a single social benefit can be exempt from income tax. If you work and receive pension or benefit at the same time, you will have to choose between an exemption from income tax from either the employer or benefit/pension. In case of double exemption, the excess sum will have to be returned to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. The service is only available to Estonian residents.
- You can also view the applications you have submitted to the Social Insurance Board.
