Viewing information on getting married became more convenient

The proactive government service ‘Getting married’ of the state portal eesti.ee has received additional features, which allows users to better view procedural information related to getting married and manage the process more conveniently.

After giving their consent on the state portal, both persons getting married will be able to view the procedural information of the marriage application via eesti.ee through the new personalised solution. Marriage applications are still submitted via the Population Register portal, but you can also follow the status of the procedure and messages about it on eesti.ee.

‘This is one of the first steps towards user-centric personalised services – this way, people get public services as a seamless and comprehensive user experience,’ said Triin Gailan, Product Owner at the Services Business Unit of the Information System Authority (RIA). ‘This year’s plans also involve continuing with the personalisation of at least two new proactive government services,’ Gailan added.

The proactive government service ‘Getting married’ is a further development of the information service launched at the end of 2022, which will provide people with a comprehensive overview of how to submit a marriage application and what associated steps are required, and will allow users to be directed to the portal of the Population Register for submitting a digital marriage application.

The solution was developed by RIA in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, and the IT and Development Centre of the Ministry of the Interior. The development work was done by Nortal AS.

The development of proactive government services is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) of the European Union.
