About Data Consent Service

By using the Data Consent Service, you can grant companies access to your personal data in the national databases.

The Data Consent Service enables you to allow the transfer of your personal data to those companies which provide novel and customised services based on personal data. Consents can only be given for the transfer of a specific dataset which is required for the provision of a specific service. Once you have given your consent, the data held by the state will be transferred to the selected company.

By using the Data Consent Service, you can exercise your legal right to make decisions on the processing of your personal data by selecting the third parties which will be able to access your data. The Data Consent Service is always used and consents are granted on a voluntary basis. Any consents granted can be withdrawn at any time.

Valid strong authentication methods are required for using the Data Consent Service (ID-card, Mobile-ID, or Smart-ID).

The journey of granting your consent always begins from the service provider’s environment from where you will be redirected to the eesti.ee state portal to grant your consent. When consent has been granted or rejected, the process will continue in the service provider’s environment.

In addition to granting your consent, you can also view all consents granted, the substance thereof, the dates of expiry, and the history of use of the consents in the state portal. The portal can also be used for withdrawing the consents given at any time.

The Data Consent Service is an e-service provided by the state which ensures a number of benefits for the individual.

  • Convenient – consent is always given in the same reliable environment, irrespective of the service provider.
  • Transparent – the consents given and the history of use thereof are available and can be managed in the same place.
  • Secure – the consents given are retained in a highly secure national database.

The data consent service is being developed and administered by the Information System Authority.
