Driving a vehicle
Activities when applying for a health certificate
Doctors only issue digital health certificates (certificates are issued on paper under special circumstances, such as system failures, in which case the certificate is digitised by the doctor at a later date). See more information on the Transport Administration website.
To get a health certificate, you must first fill out a health declaration at the Health Portal and then contact your family doctor. Digital health certificates are automatically added to the traffic register and do not have to be submitted physically to the Transport Administration.
Once you have received your health certificate, return to the service to continue.
Important to know concerning this step
Go to Transport Administration e-service, LOG IN and find “My medical certificate data”.
Family doctor phone numbers and addresses are listed on the website of the Health Insurance Fund.
If you don’t have a family doctor, you can find one using the family physician subservice.
In order to avoid the suspension of the right to drive, a new health certificate must be applied for. You can check the validity of your health certificate using the Transport Administration’s e-service.
Tell your family doctor what kind of vehicle you need to drive in order to get the relevant medical certificate.
There are two types of health certificates:
- Group — for driving a car (usually valid for 10 years
- Group — for driving trucks, buses and taxis (usually valid for 5 years)
