How to apply for the EU Ecolabel
Submission of the application
Once the application and all the necessary evidence have been compiled, you can start submitting them to the competent authority. The application and the necessary evidence must be submitted digitally signed.
Important to know concerning this step
In Estonia, the competent authority for the EU Ecolabel is the Environmental Agency.
Applications are submitted in a digitally signed form via the secure file exchange portal of the Information Technology Centre of the Ministry of Climate. Before submitting, you must register on the Portal with your work-related e-mail address and forward the application via file exchange to the address [email protected].
The application can also be submitted directly to the e-mail address [email protected].
The data provided in the EU Ecolabel application are confidential.
Read more about submitting an application here.
The application must be accompanied by a confirmation of payment of the state fee, which is a prerequisite for initiating proceedings.
The amount of the state fee depends on the size of the company (micro, small and medium-sized enterprise or large enterprise) and the applicable rates are referred to in the application instructions.
Payment is made by bank transfer to the account of the Ministry of Finance, using the bank details and reference number provided in the instructions.
Detailed fee rates, discounts and instructions for payment orders can be found here.
When submitting an application, you must also pre-register your product in the EU Ecolabel Catalogue (ECAT), following the instructions in the ECAT user manual. It is a public database that allows all stakeholders to search for EU Ecolabel products and services.
Please note that the product will only be publicly displayed once your application has been approved by the competent authority and a contract has been signed.
