Pregnancy
Dental visit
II trimester
A pregnant woman who is covered by health insurance is entitled to a dental care benefit of up to 105 euros per year. This is a higher limit than the standard benefit for adults and applies to pregnant women and mothers of children under one year of age. The benefit can be used only for essential dental care services and only at dental care providers that have a contract with the Tervisekassa (Health Insurance Fund).
To receive the benefit, the patient must be health insured and pay part of the treatment costs herself — at least 12.5% of the total cost. The benefit is deducted directly from the bill at the time of payment. Services that are not covered by the benefit must be paid for in full according to the dentist’s price list.
Pregnant women are not charged a visit fee, which dentists may otherwise charge patients up to 5 euros. The benefit can be used within the calendar year only and cannot be carried over to the next year.
Before visiting the dentist, it is recommended to check the amount and remaining balance of the benefit in the national portal eesti.ee.
