Using EMAS and keeping your registration
Communication with partners and the public
One part of the implementation of EMAS is the transparent communication of the organisation's environmental activities. Well-organised communication helps to showcase the organisation's achievements, strengthen credibility in the eyes of partners and customers, and support sustainable choices more broadly. This step outlines the most important principles and tools that help to share information about EMAS.
Important to know concerning this step
EMAS aims to support the sustainable development of organisations and can be effectively done through well-planned and transparent communication.
EMAS communication tools help organisations to present their results, activities and achievements in a clear and professional manner, involving employees, customers and the general public.
The EMAS Communication Kit includes a range of ready-to-use and customisable materials that can be used in social media posts, campaigns, events or everyday communication. These include banners, posters, email signatures, visual PowerPoint templates, and Adobe InDesign files that are suitable for use by organizations with different design experiences.
The EMAS Communication Toolkit can be downloaded here.
The EMAS logo is an official trademark of the EMAS Regulation, which is intended to indicate that the organisation has a certified and valid EMAS environmental management system. The use of the logo gives the public and partners confidence that the organisation:
- implements a functioning environmental management system;
- evaluates and publishes the results of its environmental activities;
- involves employees and ensures their environmental awareness;
- complies with all environmental legislation concerning its activities.
The logo must be accompanied by the organisation's EMAS registration number, unless a version of the logo without a number is used (which is also allowed by the Regulation).
The EMAS logo may not be used:
- on the product or its packaging;
- in advertising that compares products or services;
- the organisation in general communication, if not all sites have been certified as compliant with EMAS.
Instructions on how to use the logo can be found in the EMAS Logo Guide.
