Using the EU Ecolabel
What should be taken into account when using the EU Ecolabel?
After obtaining the right to use the EU Ecolabel, a company must ensure that the label is used properly and that the product or service continues to meet the established criteria.
Important to know concerning this step
In order to retain the right to use the label, a state fee must be paid annually, the amount of which depends on the size of the company (micro, small and medium-sized enterprise or large enterprise). Detailed fee rates, discounts and instructions for payment orders can be found here.
Depending on the criteria of the product group, the competent authority has the right or the obligation to verify whether the products or services bearing the Ecolabel are compliant even after the right to use the label has been obtained.
For some product groups, regular reporting is also required, such as an annual report on the use of palm oil, which certifies that the raw materials used come from sustainable sources and meet the established requirements.

The agreement for the use of the EU Ecolabel is concluded for the duration of the criteria for the product group, during which the company is entitled to use the EU Ecolabel on its product or service, provided that all the criteria continue to be met.
If the criteria are updated, the company must confirm that the product also meets the new requirements. In order to maintain the right to use the label, an annual state fee must be paid and all reporting obligations must be fulfilled throughout the validity of the contract.
