Throughout the entire prison sentence, all work with the prisoner is aimed at preparation for release. To help the prisoner reintegrate into society as smoothly as possible, various preparatory measures are taken before release, many of which are already carried out during the main phase of imprisonment. Common measures include providing social assistance, teaching new skills and social coping abilities, and placing the prisoner in an open prison. The prison helps the prisoner establish contacts with family members and social welfare institutions. Upon release, the prisoner is also paid a release grant accumulated from their earned wages. It is also possible to be released before the end of the sentence, in which case the sentence continues under probation supervision in the community.
