An unemployed person is an individual who is not employed, who has been registered at the Employment Insurance Fund, and is seeking employment.
Registering as unemployed
In order to be registered as an unemployment person, the individual must visit a consultant at a branch of their preference of the Unemployment Insurance Fund in person, bringing along the following documents:
- a valid identity document
- when applying for the unemployment insurance benefit or the unemployment allowance, a document which proves the termination or expiry of the individual’s last employment relationship and the reasons thereof (the employment contract or contract for the provision of a service) and, in the event of applying for the unemployment insurance benefit, the employer’s certificate issued for an insured person.
An application for registration as an unemployed person may also be submitted via the self-service environment of the Employment Insurance Fund.
After registration, a plan for seeking work is drawn up for the individual in cooperation with the consultant. An unemployed person must observe their plan for seeking work, attend their appoints at the Unemployment Insurance Fund for consultation, seek employment actively, and be prepared to accept suitable work and commence working immediately. Those individuals who have been registered as unemployed persons may apply for the unemployment insurance benefit and for the unemployment allowance.
